| - Our understanding of landscape and vegetation development from the Late Glacial in the West Carpathians is increasing continuously, but there remain unexplored calcareous regions: the core mountains and the warm margins. This proposal aims to fill the gaps by studying multiple sites along two environmental transects covering the continentality gradient (west-east) and the thermic gradient (south-north). The focus will be on woodland, grassland and wetland development and its relations with climate, water regime, human impact and taxonomic diversity, and an effort is made to determine refugial taxa. About 20 sites will be studied in high detail for pollen, and among these a subset of sites, selected with respect to taphonomy and relevance of key organisms, will be studied for molluscs, plant macrofossils, chironomids, testate amoebae and sediment chemistry in order to allow better ecological understanding. Environmental reconstructions will be based on time-for-space transfer functions, and the results of the different taxonomic groups will be integrated using multivariate statistics. (en)
- Úroveň poznání vývoje vegetace a krajiny od pozdního glaciálu po současnost se postupně zvyšuje, stále však zůstávají neprozkoumaná území s vápnitým podložím: jádrová pohoří vnitřních Karpat a teplejší okrajové části. Projekt si klade za cíl vyplnit tuto mezeru studiem souboru lokalit rozmístěných podél dvou krajinných transektů, pokrývajících jak kontinentalitu (západ-východ), tak teplotní podmínky (jih-sever). Zaměří se na vývoj lesů, travinobylinné vegetace a mokřadů a jeho vztahy ke klimatu, vodnímu režimu, lidské činnosti a současné taxonomické diverzitě, se specifickým cílem identifikovat refugiální druhy. Zhruba 20 profilů bude detailně zpracováno pomocí pylové analýzy. V závislosti na zachování a významu ostatních fosilií budou kvůli lepšímu ekologickému poznání rovněž zpracováni měkkýši, rostlinné makrozbytky, pakomáři, krytenky a změny chemismu sedimentů. Rekonstrukce prostředí bude založena na přenosných funkcích a data o různých taxonomických skupinách budou srovnány pomocí mnohorozměrné statistiky.
