The present state aiming on progressive usage of composite materials in the construction of machines is not fully effective because it lacks the research in the field of ultrahigh modulus carbon fibers in combination with nanoparticles in matrix. Current results of own research regarding technological processes show the need for the analysis of new constructions of completely non-conventional shapes and types with integrated components (smart structures). The main goal of the grant is the design of new construction elements of machine tools with ultrahigh stiffness and progressive dynamic properties. Using modern numerical methods, new computational models, new design and optimalization concepts, and failure criteria for composite elements of non-conventional constructions with the advantageous materials mentioned will be proposed. Material and structural characteristics will be determined experimentally on model specimens of new types of joints. The structural health monitoring, active control of dynamic response, and fatigue assessment algorithms will be realized on these specimens. (en)
