  • The goal of this research is to answer how to measure the viscous and elastic (reologic) properties of spastic muscle. Clinical medicine such as neurology and rehabilitation encounter patients suffering from spasticity, which medicine attempts to alleviate or cure. To select the most effective therapy however, the viscous and elastic properties of the afflicted spastic muscle must first be determined. No satisfactory method has hitherto been devised which can assess the degree of spastic syndrome and thus all treatment, primarily pharmacological, is hitherto prescribed only according to the experience of treating medical personnel. I introduce in my dissertation work a method with the whole methodology, which allows to assess muscle tonus by helping of viscous and elastic parameters. According to these parameters it is possible to quantify and qualify reologic properties of soft tissue in general. This new biotechnology tries to indicate amount of stiffness according to viscous and elastic properties of active soft tissue (muscle), that where found by measurement. (en)
