Description
  • The syncytiotrophoblast of human placenta differentiates by cell-to-cell fusion of cytotrophoblastic elements and is critical for normal physiology and dvelepment of both placenta and fetus. Cell-to-cell fusion in placennta is mediated by syncytins, envelope glycoproteins of human endogenous retroviruses, which associate with specific cellular receptors. Whereas the receptor for syncytin-1 is well known, the receptor for newly discovered syncytin-2 has to be identified yet. The principal aim of this project is to identify the specific receptor for HERV-FRD family syncytin-2 and characterise it further as to the tissue-specific expression and the binding site for the viral envelope. Knowledge of this receptor might be of use in diagnosis and potentially also in the treatment of preeclamptic disorders in placenta. (en)
  • Syncytiotrofoblastická vrstva v lidské placentě vzniká fúzí trofoblastických buněk a je nezbytná pro správnou fysiologii a vývoj placenty i plodu. Fúzi buněk v placentě zprostředkovávají syncytiny, obalové glykoproteiny lidských endogenních retrovirů, které reagují s příslušnými buněčnými receptory. Zatímco receptor pro syncytin-1 je dobře prozkoumán, receptor pro nově objevený syncytin-2 nebyl dosud identifikován. Cílem tohoto projektu je určení buněčného receptoru pro syncytin-2 z rodiny HERV-FRD a jeho další charakterisace, expresní profil a identifikace vazebného místa pro syncytin-2. Poznání receptoru pro syncytin-2 může mít význam pro diagnózu a potenciálně i pro terapeutický zásah u preeklamptických stavů a jiných poruch funkce placenty. (cs)
