Description
  • A comprehensive converter of PSpice and Micro-CAP input (*.cir) files to the CIA (Circuit Interactive Analyzer) format (net. or *.n) has been created using a Delphi programmer's environment. The CIA program is our original software tool for the analysis and optimization of electronic circuits. As the CIA program has been purchased by tens of Czech industrial companies, creating such a converter was very important. With this converter, the users of the CIA programs are able to use easily the huge amount of PSpice library files freely available on the internet. The converter can transform both lists of the elements and their parameters. The current version 2.1 is able to work with the models of diodes, BJTs, JFETs, MOSFETs, and macromodels of integrated circuits. For the MOSFET, the process of recalculating the model parameters cannot be straightforward (analytic) because the PSpice and CIA models are quite different. Therefore, the CIA set of the MOSFET parameters is obtained by a reliable modified version of the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm, which has been described in our paper in the 2010 October's issue of the journal Solid-State Electronics (impact factor 1.438 in Web of Science). Generally, the code for converting the model parameters is quite extensive: 769, 1807, and 2153 lines of Pascal source code for the diode, BJT and MOSFET models, respectively. Moreover, the netlist converting code consists of other thousands of the Delphi Pascal source code. The converter has been frequently corrected and thoroughly tested afterwards so that the final program can transform a big majority of PSpice netlist files. Moreover, the converter works without problems under both Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems (both 32- and 64-bit ones). The converter has been used many times for a practical development. One typical example was low-voltage low-power CMOS microwave four-quadrant multiplier published in the 2009 January's issue of the AEÜ journal (IF=0.538 in WoS).
