Description
  • IR laser-induced chemical modification of poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAC) has been examined through ablative and non-ablative thermal processing of bulk PVAC, which revealed three previously unobserved decomposition routes. Low fluence-irradiations result in the formation of volatile vinyl acetate and acetone and leave the remaining irradiated polymer having almost identical structure. High fluence- irradiations yield a multitude of volatile compounds together with thin polymer films that contain a half of the acetate groups and reactive conjugated C=C bonds. Residual reactivity of the C=C bonds leads to polymer crosslinking and to an increase of polymer insolubility upon polymer staying. The laser induced processes differ remarkably from conventional heating of PVAC, which yields acetic acid and non-polar carbonaceous residue.

  • IČ laserově-indukovaná modifikace poly(vinyl acetátu) (PVAC) byla zkoumána skrze ablativní a neablativní tepelné procesování PVAC. Byly zjištěny tři dříve nepozorované rozkladné reakce. Nízkoenergetické ozařování vede k tvorbě těkavých vinyl acetátu a acetonu a ponechává zbytkový polymer o téměř identické struktuře. Vysokoenergetické ozařování vede k mnoha těkavým produktům a k deposici tenkých filmů polymeru obsahujících polovinu acetony skupin a konjugované C=C vazby. (cs)
