Aminokyselinové složení páté transmembránové domény, zejména přítomnost aminokyselin s hydroxylovou skupinou v této části proteinu, je kritická pro rozpoznání a transport substrátů a mohla by se účastnit konformačních změn během vazby a/nebo transportu kationtů u Na+/H+-antiportních systémů plasmatické membrány kvasinek (cs)
