  • Nanocomposite coatings represent a new generation of materials, which exhibit new unique properties. The article reviews the present state of the art in magnetron sputtering of hard and superhard nanocomposite coatings and reports on recent advances in this field. At first, the information of nanocrystalline and nanocomposite films and the microstructure of single-phase and two-phase films are described in detail. Next, an attention is devoted to the enhanced hardness. It is shown that the hardness of the nanocomposite film can be more than two times higher than the hardness of its hardest component, there are two groups of hard and superhard nanocomposites: nc-MeN/hard hard phase and nc-MeN/soft phase, H correlates well with the film structure and there are four possible origins of the enhanced hardness: dislocation-dominated plastic deformation, cohesive forces between atoms, nanostructure of materials and macrostress generated by ion bombardment.

  • Nanokompozitní materiály představují novou generaci materiálů vykazujících unikátní vlastnosti. Tato publikace přináší přehled současného stavu poznání v oblasti magnetronového naprašování tvrdých a supertvrdých nanokompozitních vrstev a referuje o nových trendech v této oblasti. Značná pozornost je věnována způsobu vytváření nanokrystalických a nonakompozitních vrstev a detailnímu studiu mikrostruktury jednofázových a dvoufázových vrstev. V neposlední řadě se věnuje mechanismům a problematice týkající se zvýšené tvrdosti těchto vrstev. (cs)
