Description
  • The number of reported cases of foodborne poisonings by pathogenic micro-organisms has increased during the last decade. The use of traditional methods for their detection can take up to several days to perform and if futher confirmation is required, other more specilized methods(e.g.serotyping, phagetyping)must be additionally performed. The first aim of the project was to harness the full potential of pre-culturing step by concentration of target organisms from entire homogenate. This was achived by using the novel filtration technology (filtration bags), followed by specifically concentration of target pathogenes, Salmonella and Listeria. The both pathogenes are detected either by sensitive immunologically based end-point detection method or by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The sensitivity and specifity of designed method will be tested for detection Salmonella and Listeria in both, model and real food samples.
