Description
| - The project goal is application of the most recent limnological research in the water management following ecosystem approaches on a catchment basis. In co-operation with potential end users, the project evaluates the recent status of reservoir management and proposes case studies of reservoir ecosystems aimed on their sustainable management and good ecological potential (Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC). The project analyses how the reservoir trophy depends on nutrient loading and the ecosystem structure. It includes developing of predictive dynamic models of water quality in the reservoirs. It deals with causality of the phytoplankton blooms' formation and with different consequences of high primary production, as regards to the type of dominant producers, for water quality and further decomposition of organic matter. It explores mechanisms, which prevent high biomass of predatory fish and thus reduce the effects of biomanipulation by the predators in most Czech reservoirs. (en)
- Cílem projektu je převod současných poznatků základního limnologického výzkumu do vodohospodářské praxe v souladu s ekosystémovým přístupem k řízení povodí. Ve spolupráci s předpokládanými uživateli bude vyhodnocen současný stav managementu údolních nádrží a budou provedeny případové studie nádržových ekosystémů zaměřené na dlouhodobě udržitelný způsob hospodaření, zajišťující dobrý ekologický potenciál podle Rámcové směrnice o vodě 2000/60/EC. Projekt zahrnuje analýzy závislosti trofie nádrží na přísunu živin a struktuře vodního ekosystému a vývoj dynamických matematických modelů kvality vody v nádržích pro predikční účely. Zabývá se příčinami vzniku vodních květů a různými důsledky vysoké primární produkce na kvalitu vody v závislosti na typu dominantních producentů a na dalším osudu vyprodukované organické hmoty. Hledá mechanismy, znemožňující dravým rybám dosáhnout vysokých hustot, čímž se snižuje biomanipulační efekt rutinního vysazování dravých ryb ve většině našich nádrží.

| - Based on ecosystem approach at a catchment basis the recent status and management of reservoirs was studied. All trophic levels were included - form nutrients to fish. Results of case studies were immediately given at disposal to end users. (en)
- Ekosytémovým přístupem byl na úrovni celých povodí studován současný stav údolních nádrží a jejich obhospodařování. Zahrnuty byly všech trofické úrovně - od živin po ryby. Výsledky případových studií byly bezprostředně předávány konečným uživatelům. (cs)
