| Description
| - Surplus production of cereal crops has been recorded in the Czech Republic during the last years. In 1995, grain production was 1, 901, 000 t, of which 1,338,000 t of wheat. The surplus production for the year 1996 is predicted to be approximately the same. Similarly, the world balance of grain production has reached surpluses. In 1995, it was 130 mln. t, although a slight decrease is expected in next years. It is clear that the surplus production of cereals in our country can be exported only in limited amounts and it will be necessary to use this production for industrial purposes. Limiting the cereal production, especially in upperland regions of the potato-growing zone, establishing perennial grasslands, afforesting and setting-aside agriculturalland is impossible from both social (unemployment increase in these regions) and ecological aslpects (dramatical incerease in weed infestation and soil devastation). - V České republice je v posledních letech trvale dosahována nadprodukce obilovin a to konkrétně v roce 1995 ve výši 1,901 tis. tun vyrobených obilovin a z nich má potom pšenice podíl ve výši 1,338 tis. tun. Pro rok 1996 je prognóza nadbytku obilovin přibližně ve stejných hodnotách. Také světová bilance výroby obilovin dosahuje přebytku, konkrétně pro rok 1995 ve výši 130 mil. tun, i když je očekáván v příštích letech mírný pokles. Je tedy jasné, že nadprodukce obilovin v České republice půjde jen zcela omezeně řešit cestou exportu a je nutné přistoupit k průmyslovému zpracování obilovin, jelikož cesta omezování produkce obilovin,zvláště v podhorských oblastech a v bramborářském výrobním typu, zatravňováním, zalesňováním a převážně ponecháním půdyv klidu, není řešení, jak ze strany sociální (vzestup nezaměstnanosti v těchto oblastech), tak také ekologické (prudký vzrůst zaplevelenosti a devastace půdy).
