Description	The role of sperm surface proteins in the fertilization process. An exactly defined series of events preceding the gamete fusion is necessary for the egg fertilization with sperm. Most of these steps are depend on the binding abilities not only of gametes but also of other components that are successively in contact with both cells. The aim of this project is to study the role of sperm surface proteins in the fertilization process. Most proteins that influence the sperm functions are proteins of seminal plasma. Detailed identification of seminal plasma proteins and the study of their binding properties is necessary for better understanding of their roles. The present project proposes search for new types of proteins in boar, human, bull and canine seminal plasma and for homologous proteins in seminal plasma of different species. In isolated and characterized sperm surface proteins, attention will be focused on the relationship between their structures, their binding properties and possible (en) Úloha povrchových proteinů spermie ve fertilizaci. Vlastnímu splynutí vajíčka se spermií musí předcházet celá řada přesně definovaných událostí. Většina těchto dějů je založena na vazebných interakcích nejenom gamet, ale i ostatních složek systému, se kterými tyto buňky postupně přicházejí do kontaktu. Cílem tohoto projektu je studium role povrchových proteinů spermií v procesu fertilizace. Většina proteinů, které ovlivňují funkci spermie, je přítomna v semenné plasmě. Detailní identifikace proteinů semenné plasmy a studie jejich vazebných vlastností je nutná k lepšímu pochopení úlohy těchto proteinů. Záměrem předkládaného projektu bude studium nových typů povrchových proteinů spermií v kančí, býčí, lidské a psí semenné plasmě a hledání homologních proteinů u různých živočišných druhů. U isolovaných a charakterizovaných povrchových proteinů spermie bude pozornost zaměřena na vztahy mezi jejich strukturou, jejich vazebnými vlastnostmi a možnou fysiologickou funkcí
