Description	With the extensive development of classical paradigm of computing its limits may be reached. The research plan is inspired by the emerging new paradigm of soft computing. It is understood as a creative fusion of various methodologies of computer science as neural networks, genetic computing, fuzzy logic, probabilistic methods, advanced numerical methods (and others) and their theoretical analysis (e.g. complexity theory). One will stress tolerance to impreciseness (approximation) and uncertainty, heuristics and relative ease of solution of problems concerning large and complex systems. Methods able to use simultaneously mathematical modelling and symbolic reasoning will be in the centre of attention as well as their application, especially in environmental informatics, neuroinformatics, cognitive computing, medical and bio informatics. At the implementation level, approaches will be developed, making use of interactiveness, parallelism, distributiveness, and cooperation. (en) Extenzivně rozvíjené klasické paradigma informatiky leckde naráží na hranice svých možností. Výzkumný záměr je motivován novým informatickým a formulačním paradigmatem označovaným nepřeložitelným anglickým termínem soft computing. Jde o tvůrčí propojení různých metodologií informatiky jako neuronové sítě, genetické výpočty, fuzzy logika, pravděpodobnostní metody, pokročilé numerické metody (a další) a o jejich teoretickou analýzu (např. teorie složitosti). Důraz bude kladen na toleranci k nepřesnosti (aproximaci) a nejistotě, heuristiky a relativní snadnost řešení problémů týkajících se velmi složitých systémů. Půjde především o metody schopné současně využívat matematické modelování a symbolické usuzování a aplikaci těchto metod, především v environmentální informatice, neuroinformatice, kognitivních výpočtech, lékařské informatice a bioinformatice. V oblasti implementace budou rozvíjeny přístupy užívající interaktivnost, paralelismus, distribuovanost a kooperaci.
