Description
  • The project deals with a theoretical study on effects of the convective flow in propagation of chemical signals in living tissues. Developmental processes under the influence of the convective transport have not been sufficiently studied, however, the convective flow of morphogens is necessary during the left-right body axis formation or the lymphatic system development. Mathematical models describing the combined diffusion-convective transport of signal molecules in an extracellular matrix together with binding interactions among morphogens and their receptors will be formulated within the project frame. Numerical and asymptotic techniques will be used for determination and generalization of the main effects of the convective flow on velocity and other characteristics of the chemical signal propagation. The obtained theoretical results will be compared with published experimental findings. (en)
  • Budou sestaveny a chemicko-inženýrskými technikami analyzovány matematické modely vlivu konvektivního toku na přenos chemického signálu v živé tkáni. V rámci mezinárodní spolupráce budou činěny obecně platné závěry o povaze této mezibuněčné komunikace.

  • A general study on the effects of convective flow on the chemical signal propagation mediated by growth factors above a simple epithelium was published. We also found that oscillatory character of flow leads to the acceleration of signal propagation. With the use of the stoichiometric network analysis method, a reaction core responsible for emergence of bistabilities in MAPK cascade was revealed. (en)
  • Byla publikována generalizovaná studie o vlivu konvektivního toku na šíření chemických signálů zprostředkovaných růstovými faktory ve vrstvě epitelu. Bylo také zjištěno, že oscilující charakter konvekce vede k urychlení přenosu signálu. S využitím analýzy stechiometrických sítí byl objasněn původ bistabilit kinázové kaskády MAPK - reakční jádro. Oblast bistability byla analyticky lokalizována. (cs)
