Description
  • The biological degradation of mono- and dinitrotoluenes, both individually and in their mixtures, as well as mixtures of mononitrophenols, nitroglycerine, and ethylene glycerol dinitrate using both free and/or immobilized mixed microbial populations in batch, fed-batch, and continuously operated bioreactors under steady state and transient state conditions. The mechanisms of degradation processes linked to the accumulation of various organic nitrates and incompletely oxidized/reduced intermediates (with their identification) and total mineralization. Changes in biofilm composition using microbiological analyses and scanning electron microscopy during long-term reactor operation will be tested and evaluated. In addition, the complementary international educational experiences for faculty and students will be multifaceted and aimed at bringing state of the art research directly to the laboratory and the classroom.   • Prokázána schopnost biologické degradace nitroaromatických látek a nitroesterů v dlouhodobě prováděných procesech a podmínky vzniku neúplně oxidovaných intermediátů. Prokázány též změny složení biofilmu. Výsledky byly publikovány v 5 článcích v zahraničních impaktovaných časopisech a zaslány k publikování 2 další rukopisy. Dále publikovány 4 plné texty ve sbornících mezinárodních konferencí. (cs)
  • Nitroaromatics and nitroesters can be biologically degraded in long-term operated continuous processes without any generation of incompletely oxidized intermediates. Results were published in 5 papers of international impacted journals, 2 manuscripts were submitted. Also published 4 full texts in Proceedings of international conferences. (en)
