Description
  • Coupled numerical analysis of physical phenomena accompanying the process of melting reactive alloys in a cold crucible furnaces will be carried out. Its aim is to evaluate and optimize its most important features, namely to keep high quality of produced metal materials, to minimize the consumption of energy and secure as high uniformity of the final product as possible. The process is characterized by generally nonlinear interactions of electromagnetic, temperature and flow fields and free level of melt defined by the balance of forces acting on it. The steady-state distribution of the above fields in the system with molten alloy will be calculated using our own fully adaptive code based on the finite element method of higher order of accuracy. Some results are supposed to be verified experimentally on a smaller physical model that is intended to be built at the workshop of the Polish partner. (en)
