| Description
| - The National Museum, Prague possesses rich but still insufficiently investigated historical collections of vertebrates, which can be considered to be a component of the Czech cultural heritage. The basic aim of the project is the maximal scientific re-investigation and exploitation of these collections and presentation them in a way freely accessible to public. This aim can be realised by following steps: 1) To revise and redetermine the historical collections of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals of the National Museum, Prague in the light of contemporally taxonomic knowledge and publish the main taxonomic and biogeographical results. 2) To create freely accessible electronic databases of the collections of the National Museum, Prague including museum and historical documentation of these collections. 3) To publish complete revised catalogues of the selected historical vertebrate collections of the National Museum, Prague. - Národní muzeum v Praze vlastní bohaté, ale dosud vědecky dostatečně nezpracované historické sbírky obratlovců, které lze považovat za součást českého kulturního dědictví. Základním cílem navrhovaného projektu je maximální vědecké zpracování a společenské zpřístupnění těchto sbírek. Realizace tohoto cíle vyžaduje následující kroky: (1) Ve světle nových taxonomických poznatků a přístupů revidovat a redeterminovat historické kolekce ryb, obojživelníků, plazů, ptáků a savců Národního muzea a publikovat dosažené významné taxonomické a biogeografické výsledky. (2) Vytvořit přístupné elektronické databáze historických sbírek ryb, obojživelníků, plazů, ptáků a savců Národního muzea a zpracovat k nim relevantní sbírkovou a historickou dokumentaci. (3) Publikovat ucelené revidované katalogy vybraných historických sbírkových celků obratlovců Národního muzea. (cs)
