Description
  • Inter-atomic Coulombic decay (ICD) is an extremely efficient non-radiative decay mode of inner-valence ionized states in clusters, which has been first predicted theoretically by L. S. Cederbaum and co-workers [Phys. Rev. Lett. 79, 4778 (1997)]. Afterwards, several related inter-atomic decay processes have been identified in clusters, such as electron-transfer mediated decay. Similar decay mechanism occurs also as a final decay stage of a cascade process initiated by a core ionization. Recently, the theoretical findings of the Heidelberg group have gained their full confirmation in a series of spectacular ICD experiments. The present proposal is aimed to the extension of the theory and methodology of ICD with emphasis on the full description of the nuclear dynamics accompanying the electronic decay. Attention will be paid also to the improvement of existing ab inito methods for calculation of the inter-atomic decay rates. The developed methods will be applied to the rare-gas clusters and other systems selected regarding to the up-to-date development in the field. (en)
  • Hlavním cílem projektu je rozšíření teoretického porozumění meziatomárním rozpadovým procesům a vývoj numerických metod pro jejich kvantitativní popis. Tyto metody aplikujeme na klastry vzácných plynů důležité v základním výzkumu.
