Description	Pojem evropské mezinárodní právo soukromé, kdysi psaný v uvozovkách, se stal standardní součástí mezinárodního práva soukromého ve všech členských státech EU. Projekt je založen na dvou jevech, které výrazně určují současnou dobu. Prvním je obecný trend mezinárodního práva soukromého (MPS), který lze charakterizovat jako vývoj od původních národních úprav MPS směrem k unifikaci. Druhým jevem je existence evropského mezinárodního práva soukromého, která významně ovlivňuje univerzální vývoj tohoto odvětví a je jednou z nejdynamičtěji se rozvíjejících oblastí evropského soukromého práva. Cíle projektu mohou být vymezeny takto: (1) posouzení nezbytnosti vytvořit obecnou část MPS na evropské úrovni; (2) abstrakce nebo zobecnění vybraných právních institutů obsažených v evropských předpisech v oblasti MPS; (3) prameny (evropského) MPS, vymezení jejich vzájemných vztahů a nového vývoje, a to jak v nových právních předpisech, tak v judikatuře Evropského soudního dvora; (4) problémy aplikace zahraničního práva v evropské perspektivě; (5) posouzení vhodnosti univerzálního nebo pouze evropského přístupu v MPS. (cs) The notion of European Private International Law, once often written in quotation marks, has become a standard part of Private International Law in all EU Member States. The project is based on two phenomena which notably determine the present era. The first phenomenon is the general trend of Private International Law, which may be characterised as a development from the original national legislations on PIL towards the unification. The second phenomenon means the existence of European PIL which greatly affects the universal development of this branch and is one of the most dynamically developing areas of private law within the EU. The goals of the grant project can be defined as follows: (1) Assessment of whether it is necessary to create a general part of PIL at the European level; (2) Abstraction or generalisation of selected legal institutes included by European legislation in PIL; (3) Sources of (European) PIL, assessment of their mutual relations and new developments, both in recent legal instruments, and in the case law of the European Court of Justice; (4) Problems connected with the application of foreign law in a European perspective; (5) Evaluation of whether a universal or only a European approach in PIL is appropriate.
